Charlie Cannon is a Professor of Industrial Design at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and a principal investigator of the Rhode Island Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR), a $20 million NSF grant. At RISD Cannon co-founded the Innovation Studio, which invites students from across the college to work together on complex infrastructure, environmental and social innovation problems.

A regular participant in the Winterhouse Symposium for Design Education and Social Change, Charlie Cannon has spearheaded the development of Social Design Pathways, guidelines conceived to enable designers to make more honest assessments of their social innovation efforts and potential contributions.
