UIC ID students named finalists in ComEd Innovation Contest

During summer break UIC ID BDes students Peter Graff, Nick Savage, Hamsel De La Cruz, and Steven Krejcik took part in a Student Innovation Contest sponsored by Commonwealth Edison Company (“ComEd”).

ComEd, seeking to spur innovation, announced this team-based competition for undergraduate and graduate students attending universities or colleges located within ComEd’s Northern Illinois service territory. In June, student teams submited proposals for a smart-meter related product or service to help ComEd customers with lower incomes use their home’s smart meter to manage electricity use and to save on their electric bill.

View the UIC ID team propsed "Pulsar" a concept that takes the familiarity of a light switch and connects it to your smart meter "breathing life into your home." Pulsar interprets live data into an intuitive indicator that informs consumers and inspires lower energy consumption.

Finalist in the contentest, the UIC ID team will present to ComEd on Wednesday, October 23, 2014.
