Design Faculty and Students Awarded at the UIC Startup Challenge

Ted Burdett, Instructor of Industrial Design, received 1st Prize at the UIC Startup Challenge, for Fourneau, a bread baking device that fits within a home oven. Cofounded with Ted’s partner Sharon Burdett, Fourneau was originally launched last year through a successful Kickstarter campaign, and has received critical acclaim since then. Fourneau 2.0, a newly designed version of the product is currently being launched into the market.

Industrial Design student Nabeeha Hussain was recognized with the 3rd Prize for Abstruse, a customizable organizer—a product also launched through Kickstarter.
