Philip Burton to receive the Julius Adams Stratton Prize

The Friends of Switzerland will award the Julius Adams Stratton Prize to Philip Burton, Professor and Chair of Graphic Design at the UIC School of Design. This prize recognizes eminent persons in the USA and Switzerland who exemplify the fruitfulness of the exchange of ideas and technologies between the two countries.

The 50th annual award ceremony, to be held on October 21 in Boston, will honor the groundbreaking work of designers and educators whose approach to graphic design, evolving at the Basel School of Design in Switzerland and fostered in the US, influenced generations of designers around the world. In addition to Professor Burton, the recipients of this year’s Stratton Prize are Chris Pullman, former vice president of design at WGBH in Boston, and the legendary Swiss designer Armin Hofmann.
