Philip Thompson :: Industrial Design Lecture Series

Philip Thompson is Head of New Product Development (NPD) at Jarden Consumer Solutions where he manages a team responsible for the full NPD process from discovery and definition through development and delivery. 

Thompson’s current position is his latest venture in leading the design team of a manufacturing/marketing entity from analysis of a disparate product portfolio through cohesive actions to world-class design. Prior to Jarden, Thompson worked as the global design lead of  Newell Rubbermaid, Masco Corporation in Chicago, and Whirlpool Corporation in the U.S. and Italy.

Under Thompson's leadership, Whirlpool Global Consumer Design received a Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian National Design Award in 2002.

Thompson received a BA in Industrial Design from Teesside University, Middlesbrough, UK, and a Master of Design in Industrial Design from the Royal College of Art, London.
