Cheryl Towler Weese and UIC at National Museum Publishing Seminar
Cheryl Towler Weese, Director of Graduate Studies in Graphic Design, presented her studio’s work and work of School of Design students as a featured speaker at the 17th National Museum Publishing Seminar in May.
The National Museum Publishing Seminar is the only program of its kind in the world. It brings together professionals who publish for and within leading North American museums, providing a platform for discussing current and emerging ideas.
Towler Weese spoke about her studio’s and her students' work for the Art Institute of Chicago. This year, seniors in the School of Design’s Design Thinking and Leadership course explored the possibilities and potential for the museum’s digital publishing program, prototyping a digital version of the exhibition catalogue Van Gogh’s Bedrooms.
Faculty members Meghan Ferrill and Arturo Pena co-taught the 2015–16 Design Thinking and Leadership class; UIC students included Guen Bogue, Savanna Campoli, Gabriel Cruz Gentile, Justin Demus, Colleen Ehrhart, Luis Flores, Brynna Hohl-Perrie, Kristine Lee, Samantha Lopez, Hailey Mabrey, Juliet Mak, Bridget Miller, Agnieszka Pasterczyk, Ashley Sanchez, and Brian Von Kaenel.
