Nicholas Savidge receives award at IDSA International Conference

Big things are happening for UIC Design in Detroit at "IDSA: Making Things Happen."

Nicholas Savidge, UIC ID BDes, received his 2016 IDSA Student Merit Award on Friday, August 19, on the main stage of the 2016 International Conference of the Industrial Design Society of America (IDSA).

The IDSA Student Merit Award Program recognizes exceptional talent emerging from colleges and universities with Industrial Design programs. The SMA Program begins at the  school level in January-February when the UIC ID faculty selects their top students to present to an IDSA member judging panel. Each school-level winner advances to their respective IDSA Regional Conference where they compete for the District title. The five District winners are recognized through profiles in the publication INNOVATION, on IDSA.org, and at the IDSA International Conference.

This is the third consecutive year that a UIC Design student was selected for this prestigious award—evidence that our status as a School of Design, and the related curricular advancements, are making a national impact on industrial design education.

The 2015 winner was Rotimi Solola, now a designer at Motorola. The 2014 winner was Jillian Tackaberry, now a designer with MNML.

Congratulations Nick!
