Matthew Wizinsky to participate in Typeforce Chicago
Recent research of Matthew Wizinsky, Assistant Professor of Graphic Design, will be featured in Typeforce 5, The showcase of Typographic All-stars to be held in Chicago on February 28, 2014.
Through a variety of experiments with conductive inks, Wizinsky has developed a digital interface where printed posters respond to touch. Two distinct methods for creating touchable paper interfaces have emerged from Wizinsky's research: the use of open circuits and the use of touch capacitance sensors. While these are not new inventions in the world of electronics, giving these tools a typographic form on a paper surface shapes new technical parameters for the creation of letterforms and provides new possibilities for the delivery of information in interactive digital media.
