After designing in a Chicago studio for three years, Lauren Manning Nichols decided to continue her education by attending the international postgraduate program at the Basel School of Design in Switzerland. Returning stateside a year and a half later, she designed print collateral for various educational institutions in Boston before heading to the opposite coast to design interactive multimedia exhibits in San Francisco. Eventually Chicago called her home, where she ran her own design business for over a quarter century, working with clients ranging from local art galleries to international corporations.
Since joining UIC’s School of Design in 2015, Lauren has taught Typography, 2D Form Studio, Digital Media Design, and Design Photography. In addition to her teaching role, she serves as a course coordinator while maintaining an independent design consultancy.
