DES130 3D FORM STUDIO provides an introduction to the fundamentals of three dimensional form-making, design thinking, and design process. Emphasis is placed on conceptual visualization and physical/digital fabrication. Students develop concepts and translate ideas into sketches and exploratory models. A variety of materials are introduced and students are trained to utilize machinery in the Project Lab. Students learn to choose and apply appropriate fabrication techniques and to combine the use of physical/digital fabrication tools in the sequential planning of making an object.
This studio course is required for students in the School of Design, First-Year Program. Space permitting, it is open as an elective to undergraduate students in the College of Architecture, Design, and the Arts.
